1. Discover Hawaiian History at the Plantation Village

Take a 4-mile drive to 94-695 Waipahu Street in Waipahu to the Plantation Village, a living history museum and botanical garden, for a remarkable historical and cultural experience and discover what life was like on a plantation between 1850-1950. Visit more than 25 authentic plantation homes, restored historical buildings, and replicas of plantation structures filled with furniture, art, clothing, and other personal artifacts.
Stroll through the gardens full of unusual plants brought here by immigrants from Japan, Okinawa, Korea, China, the Philippines, Polynesia, and Puerto Rico, taste delicious and unique fruits, and pop in at the gift shop for beautiful handmade crafts from the Plantation Village crafters.

2. Hike to the Beautiful Waimano Falls

Take the kids to one of the most beautiful waterfalls on Oahu. Waimano Falls, just 8.4 miles from Waipio, is a somewhat tricky 2.9-mile hike down the well-marked Manana out-and-back trail that winds through a scenic forest down to the base of the falls.
Some sections have ropes to make going down the hill and over the tree roots easier, but take it slow and have lots of breaks to admire the lush scenery. You’ll soon discover the effort was worth it when you reach the bottom and take a refreshing dip in the beautiful pool at the bottom of the falls.

3. Visit the Sunday Farmers’ Market

A Sunday morning treat is visiting the vibrant Mililani Farmers’ Market at 95-1200 Meheula Parkway in Mililani, just 2.8 miles from Waipio. The market has a lovely festive atmosphere and mouthwatering eats and treats for a family picnic on the lawn in the shade of the trees.
Browse the stalls for seasonal farm-fresh fruits and veggies straight from the soil, buy delicious home-baked goodies, preserves, and local specialty items, and find unique handmade arts and crafts from friendly artisans and crafters. While you’re in Mililani, take the kids to the iconic and colorful Mililani Rainbow Tunnel at 95-298 Hakupokano Loop for family photos before you head home.

4. Take a Dip in Waikele Pool

The extremely popular Waikele Pool at 94-870 Lumiaina Street in Waipahu, just a quick five-minute drive from Waipio, is a lovely saltwater pool and a favorite spot for parties in the area. The pool is ideal for kids and has two shallow areas to splash around in.
The deep section of the pool has a designated diving area, keeping the action away from the little ones and allowing them to enjoy the water safely. The pool has restroom facilities with showers and ample parking, even on busy days.

Treat your family to unforgettable adventures around town. While having fun with your family, stop at Genesis Of Waipio, and allow the kids to help you find the best Genesis to go on exciting family excursions.
