6 Car Safety Features You'll Find on Today's Genesis Vehicles

Not only are modern Genesis vehicles graceful masterpieces of automobile engineering, but they're also extremely sturdily built and safe to drive. If you visit your nearest Genesis dealership, you can get behind the wheel of your desired Genesis model and see the many advanced car safety features first-hand. In the meantime, here are six excellent examples. more 6 Car Safety Features You'll Find on Today's Genesis Vehicles High-Strength Steel Frame The bodies of Genesis vehicles are forged with around fifty percent advanced high-strength steel. The extreme rigidity this protective framework provides protects you and your passengers from potential impacts. Special crumple areas are deliberately weaker in order to divert the force of a potential crash away from the cabin and those inside. Automatic Emergency Braking With sophisticated radar and camera technology, your Genesis detects stopped or slowing vehicles ahead and activates automatic braking for you. It applies the brakes carefully, so as to mitigate the risk of collision safely while maintaining control. The system can also detect and respond to pedestrians who wander into the road ahead. Driver Attention Alert As you drive, your Genesis learns your regular patterns of driving, vehicle positioning, and attention. With this data, it can then detect when you're showing signs of fatigue or distraction. With a chime and visual alert, your car can then warn you of this risk and prompt you to take a break to rest and recharge your energy. Blind Spot Detection Your Genesis monitors your blind spots at all times and provides a lighted symbol on your side view mirror whenever there's a vehicle in your blind spot. If you indicate to change lanes while an object is in your blind spot, you'll receive an additional audio and visual warning. Lane Keep Assist If you ever start to wander toward another lane without indicating, your Genesis notices and alerts you. It even provides some gentle corrective steering to bring you safely back into the center of your lane. If this kind of lane drifting happens repeatedly, it might be a sign of fatigue, which your car will warn you of. Smart Cruise Control One excellent way to ward off fatigue on longer journeys is to utilize the Smart Cruise Control feature. On certain stretches of highway, this allows your car to monitor the distance from the car ahead and take over the gas, brakes, and steering to drive for you. It can even automatically slow to a halt and start up again in traffic. Smart Cruise Control allows you to take your hands off the wheel and relax a little while your car takes the wheel. Learn More About Genesis Safety at Your Genesis Dealer With these six excellent features, we're only scratching the surface of all the safety and driver-assist functionality in a modern Genesis car. Visit your nearest dealership any time to learn more. Enjoy a test drive of any Genesis car today at Genesis Of Waipio. 6 Benefits of Getting a Tire Rotation for Your Genesis

Even a small degree of uneven tire wear can hinder your driving experience, hurt your wallet, and cause all sorts of car problems. Regular tire rotation is a simple and effective solution to uneven tire wear. Here are six good reasons to periodically visit your nearest Genesis dealership to have your car's tires swapped around. 6 Benefits of Getting a Tire Rotation for Your Genesis more Save on the Cost of New Tires Various factors cause car tires to wear down unevenly. Without regular rotation, one or two tires can wear down excessively, requiring the entire set of four to be replaced sooner. The reason tires usually need to be replaced in a set of four is that you can't introduce a brand-new tire to a set that already has partially worn-down treads: the difference in tread thickness would cause too many problems, as we talk about below. Regular rotation can extend the life of each set of four tires by up to 20,000 miles. This could mean you need to purchase new tires only four times over the lifespan of your car, instead of six or seven times. If you're using premium tires, this can amount to thousands of dollars in savings. Reduce Strain on Other Car Parts The awkward pressure created by uneven tires puts extra strain on connected car parts such as the wheels, suspension, axles, and brakes. Without regular rotation, these nearby parts are also more likely to develop faults. Keep Your Warranty Valid While it's rare for a driver to need to use their tire warranty, it's always nice to have a valid warranty as insurance against an unexpected tire failure. And most tire warranties require periodical rotation in order to remain valid. Enjoy Better Performance The wonderfully smooth driving performance of a modern Genesis depends in large part on the quality of its suspension, wheel alignment, and tire quality. If your tires begin to wear down unevenly to an excessive degree, you may notice reduced handling factors such as odd vibrations, dragging on one side, or less precise steering. Maintain Better Traction When tire treads wear down unevenly, one or two tires become more susceptible to losing traction and causing a skid. Regular rotation makes sure your tires are sharing the wear and tear evenly, thereby maintaining better overall traction on the road. Reduce the Risk of Blowouts If one or two of your tires wear down excessively, they become weakened and more likely to blow out. Once again, rotation does a great deal to mitigate this risk. How Often To Have Rotation at Your Local Genesis Dealer It's generally advisable to have tires rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles, or every six months, whichever comes first. This aligns nicely with the usual intervals for oil changes and brake inspections. Always check your owner's manual to see how often Genesis recommends rotation for your particular model. Have your tires checked, rotated, or replaced today at Genesis Of Waipio. We offer a terrific range of luxurious Genesis vehicles and high-quality customer service to match.

Does Your Genesis Have a Faulty Ignition Coil?

The ignition coil in your Genesis is an essential component that helps your car battery generate enough power to ignite the fuel to start the engine. A faulty ignition coil can cause a variety of mechanical and performance issues. The following signs from your Genesis Dealer will warn you when it's time to bring your G70, G90, or GV80 for repairs. Signs From Your Genesis Dealer: Does Your Genesis Have a Faulty Ignition Coil? more Your Car Feels Slow If your car feels sluggish and lacks power, it could indicate ignition coil failure. Your vehicle will feel slow when irregular sparks prevent proper combustion. Get repairs as soon as possible to avoid further damage. Your Car Is Heavy on Gas It's a red flag if you stop at the gas station more frequently despite driving the same distance. A bad ignition coil could cause an incorrect 02 sensor reading. As a result, you will have to fill up more often due to insufficient power getting to the spark plugs, which causes the system to inject more fuel as a compensatory measure. Your Car Is Backfiring If you notice your car backfires, it could be a sign that there's something wrong with the ignition coil. When unused fuel in the combustion cylinders explodes, it causes a loud bang. In extreme cases, black smoke will pour out of the exhaust pipe, and you'll smell gas. The Engine Is Misfiring If your car is misfiring when you step on the gas pedal, blame a bad ignition coil. If the cylinders are firing incorrectly or fail to fire, it could cause your car to shut down while driving. It's important to get repairs promptly. You Hear Spluttering and Coughing Noises If you hear unusual spluttering or coughing noises from your engine when you start your car, there's probably an ignition coil problem. The sounds are typically caused by a cylinder not firing properly during ignition. Your Car Is Jerking and Vibrating If the ignition coil fails, you may experience jerking movements and vibrations when your car is idling. You may also experience hesitation or jerking when you accelerate to increase speed. Your Car Stalls and Is Difficult to Start The ignition must spark precisely at the right moment for the engine to start and run properly. If your car suddenly stops and shuts off when you come to a stop, it could be an issue with the ignition coil sending inconsistent sparks to the spark plugs, causing the engine to stall. The same problem will make it difficult to start the engine. If the ignition coil is still working, you should hear a click when you turn the key in the ignition. Ask your Genesis technician to take a closer look and sort out the problem. The Check Engine Light Is On When your car is misfiring or difficult to start, it will trigger the check engine light. Get the problem sorted out ASAP to prevent further damage and high repair costs. If you have ignition coil issues, act fast and get repairs from a qualified Genesis technician. Call Genesis Of Waipio today, and we will make your ignition coil problems a thing of the past and ensure your vehicle runs at its best.

3 Signs Your Genesis Needs a New Car Battery

A good battery is essential for your Genesis, as the battery provides the power needed to start your engine. Once your engine is running, the alternator will begin recharging the battery. The battery will slowly weaken, and eventually, it will need replacement. As your Genesis dealer, we'd like you to know some signs that it's time to visit us for a new car battery. more 3 Signs You Need a New Car Battery From Your Genesis Dealer Sulfur Smell A strong smell of sulfur from under the hood usually means that your battery is wearing out. The battery uses a combination of chemical reactions, electrolytes, and copper plates to store electricity as chemical energy. The chemical reactions that enable the battery to store energy gradually cause the chemicals in the battery to break down. Sulfuric acid is one of the most important chemicals in the battery, and it releases hydrogen as it breaks down. Hydrogen molecules can escape the battery casing. Once inside the engine compartment, the hydrogen molecules will join with sulfur molecules to form hydrogen sulfide. A battery that's releasing hydrogen is failing and can't be repaired. We can fix this problem by removing the battery and replacing it with a new one. Swollen Battery Case As we've seen, the chemicals in a battery gradually break down, and this will cause the battery to fail. A battery can also be damaged by extreme heat or cold or by a damaged alternator. High or low temperatures for a prolonged period affect the electrolyte solution inside the battery. This solution can't escape the battery, but it will distort the battery case due to internal pressure. A damaged alternator can cause a battery case to swell if it overcharges the battery. Under normal conditions, the alternator will recharge a battery at full power for ten minutes and then switch to charging at 10% of battery capacity. A damaged alternator may continue to charge the battery at full power, and this causes the battery chemicals to boil and expand. A swollen battery will need replacement as it can't be repaired. Dim Headlights A battery usually has an effective lifespan of three to five years before it needs replacement. As the battery ages, it loses its ability to charge completely and its electrical storage capacity also drops. There are always signs that your battery is failing, and you can perform a quick test to identify signs that the battery's life is coming to an end. If you suspect a battery problem, you can test it by switching on the headlights when the engine is switched off. Take note of the bulb's luminescence and then start your engine and switch the headlights on again. If the headlights are brighter when the engine is running, your battery is probably failing. If you think you have a battery problem, call us right away at Genesis of Waipio.

Does Your Genesis Need a New Catalytic Converter?

Catalytic converters, also known as cats, clean most of your engine's more dangerous emissions before they enter the atmosphere. Not only do cats make the air of our cities far healthier to breathe, but it's also illegal to drive without one. If you ever experience the following car issues, visit your local Genesis dealer to have the problem diagnosed. You might need to have your cat replaced. more Does Your Genesis Need a New Catalytic Converter? Your Check Engine Light Comes On A clogged or faulty cat rapidly causes problems in the exhaust system and also in the engine. Modern Genesis vehicles are packed with sophisticated sensors designed to pick up any such malfunction. The first warning you'll have of a bad cat will often be the check engine light coming to life on your instrument panel. But you won't know for sure if the problem lies with your cat or something else until you have your car inspected by a technician. Your Fuel Mileage Plummets When cats malfunction, the car's entire flow of air and fumes often becomes blocked. This clogged airflow restricts fresh oxygen from entering the engine at the front of your car. As a result, engine problems rapidly ensue. With less oxygen to help the spark plugs ignite, the combustion chambers may start misfiring. This leads to a drop in fuel efficiency; a full gas tank will no longer be taking you as far as before. You Lose Accelerative Power As the oxygen-starved cylinders start to misfire, the engine also loses power. As a result, you might find it harder to accelerate when crossing intersections or overtaking other vehicles. You Can Smell Rotten Eggs One of the noxious fumes that cats usually clean is hydrogen sulfide. This gas has a rather pungent smell which is similar to that of rotten eggs. So if you ever smell rotten eggs while driving, open all your windows at once as hydrogen sulfide is dangerous to breathe. You can also check to see if your battery is leaking as battery acid creates a similar rotten egg smell. If your battery's fine, you'll probably need to have your cat repaired or replaced. You Hear Rattling While Revving The honeycomb mesh inside a cat can sometimes break into pieces when damaged by heat, leaking fuel, or external jolts. When this happens, you might hear the loose pieces of mesh rattling around when you're cornering or whenever you rev the engine. How a Genesis Dealer Checks Your Car Before detaching and opening up your converter, the technician needs to properly diagnose the source of the car's problems. One way to test a cat is to use a pyrometer to take the temperature both upstream and downstream of the cat. Ordinarily, the outlet end of the cat should be the hotter part. But if the cat is clogged, the backup of fumes tends to make the inlet end of the cat considerably hotter. Visit Genesis Of Waipio today to have your converter repaired or replaced. We believe in providing an exceptional overall customer experience to match the high-end quality of the Genesis brand.
