3 Signs You Need a New Car Battery From Your Genesis Dealer

Sulfur Smell A strong smell of sulfur from under the hood usually means that your battery is wearing out. The battery uses a combination of chemical reactions, electrolytes, and copper plates to store electricity as chemical energy. The chemical reactions that enable the battery to store energy gradually cause the chemicals in the battery to break down. Sulfuric acid is one of the most important chemicals in the battery, and it releases hydrogen as it breaks down. Hydrogen molecules can escape the battery casing. Once inside the engine compartment, the hydrogen molecules will join with sulfur molecules to form hydrogen sulfide. A battery that's releasing hydrogen is failing and can't be repaired. We can fix this problem by removing the battery and replacing it with a new one. Swollen Battery Case As we've seen, the chemicals in a battery gradually break down, and this will cause the battery to fail. A battery can also be damaged by extreme heat or cold or by a damaged alternator. High or low temperatures for a prolonged period affect the electrolyte solution inside the battery. This solution can't escape the battery, but it will distort the battery case due to internal pressure. A damaged alternator can cause a battery case to swell if it overcharges the battery. Under normal conditions, the alternator will recharge a battery at full power for ten minutes and then switch to charging at 10% of battery capacity. A damaged alternator may continue to charge the battery at full power, and this causes the battery chemicals to boil and expand. A swollen battery will need replacement as it can't be repaired. Dim Headlights A battery usually has an effective lifespan of three to five years before it needs replacement. As the battery ages, it loses its ability to charge completely and its electrical storage capacity also drops. There are always signs that your battery is failing, and you can perform a quick test to identify signs that the battery's life is coming to an end. If you suspect a battery problem, you can test it by switching on the headlights when the engine is switched off. Take note of the bulb's luminescence and then start your engine and switch the headlights on again. If the headlights are brighter when the engine is running, your battery is probably failing. If you think you have a battery problem, call us right away at Genesis of Waipio.

Does Your Genesis Need a Brake Repair?

The advanced braking mechanism in a modern Genesis car makes drivers safer than ever before. But brakes are still the components of any vehicle that undergo the most wear and tear. So over the lifetime of your vehicle, you're quite likely to need brake repair of some kind. If you experience any of the following issues, visit your local Genesis dealer for a brake checkup to keep your brakes in the best possible condition. Does Your Genesis Need a Brake Repair? Tugging to One Side Modern Genesis vehicles have four braking mechanisms: one connected to each wheel. If any one of these brakes runs into a problem, stopping power will be reduced on one side of your car. This might result in a strange tugging to one side when you press the brake pedal. Such tugging could be an indication of something as simple as a worn-out brake pad. But if the tugging is severe, there might be a worse underlying problem, such as a leaking brake line. more Faltering Brake Pad Each of your car's braking mechanisms has a rotor disc and a brake pad to clap the rotor, which slows and stops your car. The brake pads of modern Genesis cars usually have a superior semi-metallic friction layer containing steel, graphite, iron, and copper elements bonded by resin. This friction layer is durable and ideal for creating traction but will still wear down fractionally every time the pad is used. Eventually, the friction layer is almost gone, at which point it will usually emit a distinct screeching sound to draw your attention. It's important to replace worn-down brake pads before they lose function or damage the rotors. Damaged Rotor Discs If a brake pad wears down too far, the metal layer can scrape and score the rotor. Also, when a car continuously brakes for prolonged periods, such as when driving down steep inclines, rotors can sometimes overheat and become warped or scored. Too much usage can also cause aging rotors to warp out of shape. A damaged rotor will cause vibrations that you might feel through the pedal. It's sometimes possible to restore a damaged rotor with a process called resurfacing, but it's sometimes better to replace them. Leaking Brake Hoses One of the most dangerous brake problems is a leaking hose. This means brake fluid is escaping, and air is seeping into the hose, which will reduce the essential hydraulic pressure inside the hose. As a result, the affected brake will stop working properly. The brake pedal might feel spongy underfoot, and you might find your car tugging to one side. It's best to have a leaking brake hose fixed as soon as you can. How a Genesis Dealer Examines Your Brakes To inspect your brakes, the technician will first carefully examine all the hoses under your hood and undercarriage. They'll raise your car from the ground in order to remove the wheels and braking mechanisms. They'll carefully check each pad, rotor, caliper, and hose in turn. And if they find any problems, they'll repair them at once. Have your brakes checked and repaired today at Genesis Of Waipio. We provide luxury cars and customer service to the Genesis drivers of Honolulu and Pearl City.

6 Signs Your Genesis Needs a Radiator Repair

Your Genesis cooling system consists of a radiator, a thermostat, and a water pump to keep the engine cool. When there's a problem with the radiator, your car will overheat, and over time it could cause damage to the engine. The signs below will warn you when your G70, G90, or GV80 needs a radiator repair from your Genesis deale r. more 1. It Gets Too Hot Under the Hood Overheating is a typical sign of cooling system problems. If your car overheats while idling, it could be a faulty radiator fan not pulling enough air into the radiator to cool it down. When the temperature gauge needle is constantly in the red, it could also be a faulty thermostat or low coolant levels. A failing or broken thermostat will prevent the release of the correct amount of coolant, and your car will overheat. 2. You Notice Puddles Under Your Car If you have to top off the coolant more often than usual or see bright green, pink, orange, or yellow puddles on the ground under your car, there's a coolant leak. Coolant could leak from loose or degraded hoses, but the leak could also come directly from the radiator. If there's not enough coolant to keep the engine cool, it will result in overheating. 3. Your Radiator Is Rusty If you notice that the coolant has turned a brownish color, rust has set in. The rust could create holes that will cause leaks. You need to take care of the problem fast to protect your radiator. 4. The Radiator Is Clogged If your car is constantly overheating and you notice a thick sludge-like substance inside the radiator, your radiator is clogged. A blocked radiator will prevent the coolant from flowing freely through the system and make it more difficult for the radiator to distribute to correct amount of coolant to the engine. 5. The Fins Are Damaged Road dirt, insects, stones, and even high water pressure can damage your radiator's delicate fins. Damaged fins will prevent enough air from flowing through to lower the temperature of the hot coolant, causing your car to overheat. 6. You See Smoke From the Tailpipe or Under Your Hood If you see smoke pouring out from under the hood or your tailpipe, the best cause of action is to pull over and wait for the engine to cool down. Call your dealership immediately and ask for assistance to avoid damage to vital components. If you're struggling with radiator problems, don't wait too long before you take action to avoid further damage that will lead to high repair costs. Call Genesis Of Waipio today to schedule a maintenance appointment, and the qualified technicians will perform expert repairs and ensure your Genesis runs like new.

We like everything they make here. The pepperoni and sausage are a classic, as is the pepperoni with mushroom and black olive. The Spicy Jenny is also really nice. It's red sauce, pepperoni, sausage, spinach, mushrooms, garlic, and red pepper. The garlic cheesy bread is too good to put down, so we'd highly recommend it. They're open from 11 AM until 10 PM from Sunday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, they're open for an extra hour until 11 PM. There's a lot to love here. We enjoy The Works and their BBQ chicken pizza especially, but they also have unique flavors, like their Thai chicken and the carne asada. The appetizers here are really special, too.
