The Top 3 Golf Courses in Driving Distance of Waipio, HI

1. Waikele Country Club

Considered by many to be the top public golf course in the state, Waikele Country Club on 94-200 Paioa Place has earned that recognition with its gorgeous fairways and luxurious facilities. As you play through each hole of this Ted Robinson-designed course, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Pearl Harbor and the mountains of Ko’olau and Waianae. Interesting elevation changes and bunker placements provide a good challenge for golfers.
Hole 4 is particularly tricky since it features a putting green that’s surrounded by several pot bunkers and a large pond. The penultimate hole will test your accuracy with its length and narrow width. Along with its world-class golf course, Waikele is home to a large pro shop and a restaurant that offers delicious fusion dishes inspired by Hawaiian, Japanese, Korean, and Filipino cuisines.

2. Ko Olina Golf Club

Also designed by Ted Robinson, Ko Olina’s course on 92-1220 Ali’inui Drive features moderate-length holes, multi-tiered greens, and clever use of water hazards. Services are plentiful at the club, including top-notch equipment rentals, golf lessons with PGA/LPGA professionals, and Japanese-speaking staff members. There’s also a practice putting green and a full grass driving range with artificial hitting pads.
Every day after 3 PM, golfers aged 17 and under can play for free, and if you’re bringing your own equipment, the short-game area is free, as well. The Ko Olina Golf Shop boasts an impressive list of brands, such as TaylorMade, NP NY, Nike, and Polo Ralph Lauren.

3. Kapolei Golf Club

Kapolei is located at 91-701 Farrington Highway, where it is notable for having hosted the LPGA’s Hawaiian Open and the PGA’s Pacific Links Championship. It’s easy to see why the course was chosen for these events when you consider its vibrant gardens, immaculate greens, and uniquely shaped fairways. Along with holes of varying lengths, extra variety is provided by the course’s five lakes.
Kapolei’s ultra-modern, 12,000-square-foot clubhouse houses a convenient snack shop, private lockers, and a glass-walled golf shop. Its full-service restaurant has everything from fluffy pancakes to fresh seafood. The club’s excellent facilities, which can accommodate hundreds of guests, are popular for holding weddings and other events.
